Frequently asked questions
Who can participate?
Undergraduate, graduate, or early-career professionals with a passion for AI. Prior experience with coding, machine learning, or data science is recommended, but you don’t need to be an expert.
Can I participate as a team?
Yes. You may participate in teams of up to 4. However, each applicant must fill out the form individually.
When do I know if I was selected?
We will let you know soon after you apply, as we select applicants on a rolling basis!
Do I need to be from MIT to participate?
No! The hackathon is global. We welcome applicants from top universities and institutions around the world.
Is it free to participate?
Yes!
What’s the format of the event?
It’s a 24-hour online hackathon held from May 2–3, 2025 (ET). You’ll join virtually, collaborate in teams, and submit your project within the timeframe.
What tools can I use?
You’re free to use any tools, models, or platforms. We’ll provide compute credits and resources depending on your track and sponsor support.
Can this help with internships or jobs?
Yes! Outstanding participants - regardless of whether they win - may be invited to join our talent network, connect with sponsors, or explore follow-up hiring opportunities.
